FLORIDA TODAY

NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson will be the recipient of a special long-distance call on Monday when President Donald Trump congratulates her record-breaking stay on the International Space Station.

Trump will be joined by his daughter, Ivanka Trump, and NASA astronaut Kate Rubins during the 20-minute Earth-to-space call from the Oval Office of the White House.

Whitson, who currently holds the record for most spacewalks by a woman astronaut and is the first woman to command the ISS twice, will set another record Monday when she surpasses the previous record of 534 cumulative days in space previously set by astronaut Jeff Williams.

Astronaut Jack Fischer, who arrived at the station on Thursday, will join her for the call with President Trump.
