Brevard Zoo welcomed a brand new baby on Friday, a scimitar-horned oryx whose mom was born at the zoo seven years ago, according to a release from the zoo.

Both mom and her 22-pound calf can be seen in their exhibit by zoo-goers who take kayak tours or the Cairo Express train rides.

Scimitar-horned oryx, named for their sword-like antlers, used to be prevalent from northern Africa to Sudan until they went extinct in the wild in 1999, the zoo said. Since then, many have been successfully bred in captivity and some even reintroduced to their native range.
