Week 4: Titusville 35, Satellite 3

Titusville High visited Satellite High on Friday night,

The great thing about a matchup between two 0-3 teams is one of them will get their first win. Unfortunately, that also means the other will not.

Thanks to big plays through the air and a tough defense that refused to give up yards, Titusville easily spoiled Satellite’s homecoming night, defeating the Scorpions 35-3 in both teams’ first District 14-5A game of the season.

Terriers quarterback OC Brother finished the night with 165 passing yards and four touchdowns, with three of those scores coming in the first half and landing in the hands of three different Titusville receivers.

While it was their passing attack that would eventually take over the game, it was defensive lineman Jared Bovian who got things started for the Terriers, coming up with an interception deep in Scorpion territory.

A snap over the head of Brothers would push the Titusville offense back momentarily, but the sophomore quarterback was able to find his running back Dontavious Marcus in the flats on a fourth and 30 for a 35-yard score to give the away team an early 6-0 lead.

Brothers added two more touchdowns to his total in the second quarter, connecting with Joe Irlbeck on an 18-yard pass to the corner of the end zone and then again to Liam Szczerba on 25-yard pass minutes later.

Coming out of the half, it seemed as though Satellite had finally cracked Titusville’s aerial attack. Both Luke Phillips and Erik Askeland were able to intercept Brothers on the home team’s first two third quarter drives, however it was the Terrier defense that would do the most damage with Trimarea Charles intercepting a pass of his own and taking it to the house to put Titusville up 28-0.

Another 18-yard touchdown from Brothers to Irlbeck just before the end of the third quarter increased Titusville’s lead to 35-0 and triggered a running clock for the rest of the game.

Playing hard until the bitter end, Satellite was finally able to get on the board with just minutes remaining in the fourth quarter when Kyle Downie converted a 25-yard field goal following a blocked punt.

Titusville will attempt to string together a winning streak next week when they host Astronaut while Satellite will continue to search for their first victory at home against Bayside.
