Detectives are searching for the cat burglars who crept into a Palm Bay residence and stole two packs of sausages and rolls from his kitchen as the homeowner slept.

The man discovered the break-in when he woke to find the front door of his home wide open and reviewed surveillance footage, Palm Bay police said.

“It was more of a cat burglary-styled break-in,” said Lt. Mike Bandish of the Palm Bay Police Department. “They stole food, sausages mainly, paper rolls and rolls,” Bandish said.

Police said the man went to sleep at 9 p.m. Monday at his home in the 700 block of Badger Drive in the northeast section of the city.

“There were three individuals seen outside and the video shows two of them going inside,” Bandish said, adding that nothing else appeared to have been taken. However, it was not known how long the men were in the residence or why they targeted that particular home.

Detectives are reviewing the surveillance video and were expecting to release more information about the case. Neighbors also saw men matching the description of the burglars.

Bandish also added that no other similar burglaries have been reported in the neighborhood.

"It's freaky."
