MELBOURNE — A Palm Bay man on a motorcycle was killed Wednesday in a collision on U.S. 1, police said.

Robert Ray Reardon, 48, of the 300 block of Eva Street, was declared dead at the scene of the crash, which happened at the Cherry Street intersection shortly after 5 p.m., police spokeswoman Lt. Cheryl Trainer said.

The southbound motorcycle collided with a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Mary Dean Woods, 46, of Melbourne Beach, Trainer said. Woods was traveling north and made a left turn at Cherry, Trainer said.

The crash remained under investigation Thursday. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor, police said.
