Fantasy novel brings Norwegian mythology to modern setting

Keira Gillett of Palm Bay is a technical publications librarian and book blogger who has recently published her first middle grade fantasy novel, “Zaria Fierce and the Secret of Gloomwood Forest” ($14.99, self-published). Set in modern-day Norway, the story is about Zara Fierce, a girl who must rescue her friend Christoffer when he is kidnapped by a river troll. The book is the first in a planned trilogy. Blair and Dawn Witherington of Melbourne Beach are nature enthusiasts who have collaborated to produce a new book. Blair is a faculty biologist with the University of Florida and leads Disney’s sea turtle conservation program. Dawn is a scientific illustrator and graphic design artist. They have merged their talents in their book “Our Sea Turtles” ($24.95, Pineapple Press).

It is described as a guide to our human experience with sea turtles, richly illustrated with illustrations, photographs and diagrams. It includes stories to promote understanding, experiencing and saving sea turtles, with descriptions of how the animals contribute to our happiness and why they deserve human help. It is available at online retailers and the Barrier Island Center gift shop, 8385 S. SR A1A, Melbourne Beach.

West Melbourne author Tony Kessinger works in the financial services industry, but has also been involved in ministry for more than 30 years, teaching at international Bible institutes as well as Bible study at church. His recently published book draws on his religious knowledge, “Things That Must Take Place: A Commentary on Revelation Chapters 4-22” ($19.00, CrossBooks).

According to a news release, the book is about the events of the end time, written from a “conservative premillennial perspective.” It examines verses from Revelation in close detail to provide readers with a sequence of events. Dr. Addison Bain of Melbourne recently published his second book, “Hindenburg: Exploring the Truth” ($39.95, Blue Note Publications). In a news release, Bain writes that the book represents 23 years of research into the famous airship and the accident that occurred in 1937. It is available at amazon.com and bluenotebooks.com.

Local authors Rachel Hauck, Amy Lyon, Alethea Kontis, Naomi Bellina, Rhea Regale andLeigh Duncanwill showcase their new titles at a book signing event at Barnes and Noble, 1955 W.
