Brevard County's number of open high school football head coaching positions is at two. Larry Laskowski resigned from the top job at Rockledge on Friday.

Laskowski had been the head coach since December of 2008 but joined the school's football staff 22 years ago. He has been part of a coaching family with perhaps the most continuity in the area during that time. Chuck Wood, Pat Lusk and Laskowski each served on the staff through most of a string of 28 playoff wins, each spending time as head coach.

Laskowski had previously been the head coach at Eau Gallie (1989-92) and Melbourne Central Catholic (1979-82). He's been coaching for 35 years, including stops at Satellite, South Fork and Pensacola High.

Athletic director Bonita Holland said the school will advertise for a new coach with the goal of hiring one by the end of January. Laskowski, whom she said "played an integral role in the success of the well-respected Rockledge High football program for over 22 years," will continue to teach physical education at the school.

Laskowski's 2012 team earned a Class 5A playoff spot, and his 1982 MCC team won a district title. While on the Rockledge staff, he has helped coach state championship teams in 2001 and 2002 as well as 13 playoff squads.
