Former 'Idol' contestant to sing at Capt. Hiram's

Kristen O'Connor of Sebastian got a taste of reality TV when she made the top 13 finalists on "American Idol." However, it was short-lived as she was eliminated Feb. 27.

Fans who rooted for her can check out her vocal chops Monday night at Capt. Hiram's in Sebastian. O'Connor, a UCF graduate, will perform with Last Chance Band at 7 p.m. April 28.

"American Idol" is currently in its 13th season. Past winners have enjoyed success in music and on the big screen, such as country music star Carrie Underwood ("Sound of Music Live"), Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson and pop star Kelly Clarkson. Season 10 winner Scotty McCreery headlined Sea World Orlando's Bands, Brew and BBQ in March.

The judges this year are Harry Connick Jr., Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban with host Ryan Seacrest. The show, which airs at 8 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays on Fox, premiered in January.
