TITUSVILLE -- Fire destroyed a 15-unit condominium Thursday evening, displacing as many 30 people who lived in the three-story building, according to Titusville Fire & Emergency Services.

Firefighters responded at 7:30 p.m. to a fire that began on a third-floor porch before spreading into the attic of one three buildings at the Shadow Wood complex in La Cita.

There were no injuries and the other buildings were not damaged. The Red Cross assisted and temporarily housed residents of the building in local hotels.

It took firefighters 90 minutes to put out the fire, during which time the roof of the building collapsed, Titusville division chief Scott Gaenicke said.

The fire was ruled accidental, according to the fire marshal. As of Friday afternoon, officials had not determined the exact cause or the monetary loss.

Forty firefighters and 10 trucks responded to the blaze, including units from Brevard County Fire Rescue.
