Update, 5:45 p.m. Monday:

A man working on a boat dock at the site of the 2016 HGTV Dream Home on Merritt Island was electrocuted before falling into the Indian River Lagoon on Monday.

Brevard County Sheriff's Office investigators were at the waterfront property after the incident was reported around 2 p.m. at 180 Utopia Circle. Brevard County Fire Rescue crews pulled the unidentified man — believed to be in his 30s — out of the water.

They worked to resuscitate the man and transport him to Cape Canaveral Hospital, according to Don Walker, a BCFR spokesman. The sheriff's office said he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

"He was a worker on the property doing electrical work," said BCFR District Chief Chris Disdiasio.

The home was chosen as part of the show's 20th annual design project and remodeling effort and construction began last May. A national contest to determine who will win the home — located along one of Brevard County's most desirable real estate locations — will take place later this year.

"Everybody at HGTV is greatly saddened by this distressing news, and all of our thoughts are with the bereaved family at this incredibly difficult time," HGTV officials said in a statement.

Neighbors arrived Monday afternoon to see the crime scene tape roped along the driveway.

"I just noticed the sheriff's deputies here," said Ailsa Lemon, whose home is separated by a manicured hedge along the property line. "The workers have been here since May. They were there all the time."
