Groundswell remains through weekend

Bob Freeman
For FLORIDA TODAY

Today

The remaining northeasterly groundswell will send consistent waist-high waves to our beaches. Occasional bigger sets approaching chest-high can be found along our southernmost Brevard County beaches.

Saturday

Surf heights will decrease into the mostly thigh- to waist-high range, but with cleaner lines from offshore breezes. These conditions should prove ideal for the sixth annual Women of the Waves Surfing Festival this weekend in Cocoa Beach.

Sunday

I expect wave heights to decrease further into the thigh-high range with semi-clean conditions from a steady northwesterly wind.
