The Brevard County Tourist Development Council this week elected restaurateur Laurilee Thompson as its chair for the coming year. Thompson, co-owner of Dixie Crossroads Seafood Restaurant in Titusville, had been vice chair of the nine-member advisory board.

In other action, the advisory board elected:

•Palm Bay Mayor William Capote as vice chair of Tourist Development Council and chair of its Sports Committee.

•Hotelier Bob Baugher as chair of the Marketing Committee.

•Titusville City Council member Walt Johnson as chair of the Capital Facilities Committee.

•Hotelier Jim Ridenour as chair of the Cultural Events Committee.

•Hotelier Tom Williamson as chair of the Beach Improvement Committee.

MELBOURNE

New tenant

Bob Sirounis, broker/owner of Harbor City Business Brokers has successfully secured a lease for 14,338-square-foot space the Apollo Commons shopping center located at the southwest corner corner of Sarno Road and Apollo Boulevard in Melbourne. The new tenant is “Trader Jakes.

The shopping center is co-anchored by Planet Fitness and Dollar General.

Bob Sirounis was also the listing and selling agent for the 14,732-square-foot Harbor City Professional Center located at 503 N Harbor City Blvd, Melbourne.

CareerSource Brevard

Lisa Rice, President of CareerSource Brevard recently was asked to participate in the U.S. Department of Labor-Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development Workshop on Workforce Development and Local Job Creation.

The event was held in Washington D.C.

Rice was one of 75 policy makers and workforce and economic development and education practitioners to take part in the program.

Among the workshop’s host were the Bureau of International Labor Affairs, U.S. Department of Labor, the Centre for Entrepreneurship and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.

Office move

Dean Mead, a commercial law firm with five locations throughout Florida, recently relocated its Viera office to 7380 Murrell Road in Viera.

The move coincides with the firm’s 25th anniversary on the Space Coast.

Dean Mead’s Brevard office has five attorneys and an extensive list of clients, including The Viera Co., Florida Institute of Technology and the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast.

Dean Mead was founded in Orlando in 1980 with eight attorneys. In 1989, Dean Mead opened its first office in Brevard County with shareholder R. Mason Blake and his team. Three years later, the firm added more lawyers and opened a second Brevard office on Merritt Island. In 2003, those offices combined and moved to a single location in Viera.
